You Don’t Need To Keep A Gap Between Your Teeth

The Dental Implant Procedure Philadelphia, PA

Call us for information on the dental implant procedure and how a dental implant can help you.

The Dental Implant Procedure

With the dental implant procedure, we can replace missing teeth to provide you with a natural-appearing and fully-functional artificial tooth. During a consultation, we will determine if you are a candidate for dental implants. One requirement is that your jawbone is dense enough to support a dental implant.

Once we determine this, we will then take a mold of the patient's teeth. By doing this, we can ensure the dental implant, or implants, fit properly. In the cases of infected teeth, we will need to remove the teeth to prevent the infection from spreading.

After cleaning and preparing the mouth, we will use medication to ensure the patient doesn't feel any pain or sensation. This way, you can receive the dental implant without worry. During the procedure, we will insert the titanium implant into the jaw. We will close up any openings and verify everything is in place.

Once complete, we will need to wait for the jawbone and implant to fuse in a process known as osseointegration. This can take several weeks to a few months. The amount of time will vary per patient. We will map out this process beforehand.

Some methods may be able to speed up the process. Once fused, we will place a dental crown or abutment over the implant to give the appearance of a natural tooth. A dental implant can stimulate the jaw to prevent crooked teeth and changes in the facial structure.

After, the artificial tooth will blend in with surrounding teeth for a uniform smile.
